  • Which screen activities leave you feeling better versus worse?
  • Are the activities you spend the most time on also the ones you rate highest in quality?
  • Which activities might you want to limit based on their quality ratings?
  • Which activities might deserve more of your screen time based on their value?

Setting Healthy Limits

Age-Appropriate Daily Screen Time Guidelines

  • Ages 0-2: No screen time except video chatting with family
  • Ages 2-5: 1 hour or less of high-quality programming
  • Ages 6-12: 1-2 hours of recreational screen time (not including educational use)
  • Teens (13+): 2-3 hours of recreational screen time with clear boundaries

Remember that these are general guidelines. The quality of content and your child's individual needs should factor into your family's screen time plan.

Using Tracker Data to Create a Family Media Plan

After collecting data for 1-2 weeks, schedule a family meeting to discuss:

  1. What patterns did we discover?
  2. What changes would make our screen time healthier?
  3. What screen-free zones or times should we establish?
  4. What alternatives to screen time might we enjoy?
  5. How will we hold each other accountable?

Use the data to create specific, realistic goals rather than imposing arbitrary limits.
